40% of Malaysians Listen to Podcasts Regularly – 60% Listen via Video Format

At the KLPodFest event held today, the CEO of Media Prima Audio shared some interesting statistics related to the world of podcasts, especially involving the Malaysian market.

According to the data shared, almost 40% of Malaysians now listen to podcasts via various platforms regularly. This also shows the potential and healthy development for the podcasting arena in Malaysia over the past few years.

Not only that, around 60% of users listen to it via video format, especially via the YouTube platform. This also shows that users do not only listen to podcasts via audio format, but also see them in visual form. YouTube is ready to lead this arena, alongside Spotify which has also allowed content publishers to upload podcast videos to the platform.

In addition, one of the popular podcasts in Malaysia, Keluar Sekejap recorded 200 million listeners' reach throughout 2024, and for 2025 so far, they have recorded 270 million reaches, thus showing the potential and reach that podcasts can achieve.
