The Material 3 Expressive interface update is now available for download on Google Pixel 6 and above devices. It arrives a week after the Pixel 10 series was launched as the first device with a more cheerful, responsive and easy-to-use interface compared to the previous interface.
Material 3 Expressive was previously given in stages in applications such as Gmail, Messages, Google Maps and even Phone. This morning's update is a comprehensive change to the Android 16 operating system allowing the lock screen and elements such as new widgets to be used by device owners.
Gboard is also given a writing assistance feature with the support of artificial intelligence (AI). The essay can be changed to a professional tone, casual, summarized, more detailed or using emoji. It can also correct spelling. All of these Gboard features are processed directly on the device without being sent to the cloud to ensure user privacy.
Quickshare receives a new look that is in line with that used on Samsung devices. A preview of the image before sending with an animation shows how far the image has been sent to the recipient.
Google also announced that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will receive Adaptive Audio later this month. This will allow the headphones' ANC noise cancellation to adjust based on the level of ambient audio. Pixel Buds Pro 2 owners can also answer calls by nodding their heads through the same update.
Pixel Watch owners can also use Google Maps navigation directly on the watch screen. The smartphone's display will then open directly on the Pixel Watch to continue navigating to their destination.
