Nepal Blocks Access to Facebook, YouTube, X and Others After Failing to Register with Government

The Nepalese government has now blocked access to a number of social media services, including Facebook, X, YouTube and others, after various services failed to register in line with the government's policy settings.

Previously, the Nepalese government had required social media services to register by providing local staff who could be contacted, including appointing a person who would be responsible for monitoring the services themselves. The failure led to the closure or blocking of access to the services. So far, only a few have registered, including TikTok and Viber.

In Malaysia itself, social media services are required to register a license to operate in Malaysia, and so far, it has been stated that WeChat, Telegram and TikTok have registered.
