Last month, we reported that there was an issue with a number of users who had updated their Windows 11 operating system with the latest update, which caused their SSD storage to disappear from being listed on the computer.
Now, a new report on this issue has identified the exact reason why it is happening. It should be noted that this issue is only seen on certain SSDs, and it has been identified that the cause is due to the test firmware used with the Windows 11 update.
This has also been confirmed by testers and engineers at Phison who say that all tests related to this issue were related to the use of the test firmware, and were fixed after using the official firmware.
The next step, specifically for those using the SSDs listed here as an example, is to update the storage firmware to the latest version as soon as possible.
Sometimes, when users download and install the latest updates on their computers, incidents will occur when they download test updates, and for firmware, especially for components like storage, it can be quite difficult to identify the source of the problem when issues like this occur.
