WhatsApp is offering its latest update for iOS users that allows sharing of Live Photos in their original format complete with motion and audio. Previously, Live Photos shared through the app were only displayed as static images or GIFs without sound, thus limiting the user experience.
Through this, users can now send and receive Live Photos in their original format that preserves motion and audio. Images that contain motion elements will be displayed with a special icon in the preview view and can be played back via a dedicated button available.
This step represents a major improvement in the way users share media on WhatsApp. For now, support for Live Photos is only available to select users and is expected to be expanded to more in the near future.
