If you own a Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20000mAh with built-in cable, you should return it to Xiaomi for safety reasons. In a notice published today, Xiaomi Malaysia said there was an issue with the raw materials from the supplier for the power bank model PB2030MI manufactured between September 2024 and October 2024.
The issue caused it to not function properly in certain usage scenarios which could potentially cause the battery to overheat, posing a fire hazard. Xiaomi Malaysia said it only affected a small number of power banks sold.
This is the second time the power bank has been recalled from the Malaysian market over safety reasons. In June, Anker Malaysia recalled four power bank models due to fire risk after detecting an issue with the Li-ion battery supplier used.
