Apple has been working on its first foldable device for several years, with the first product being an iPad rather than an iPhone. According to a Bloomberg report, the launch of the first foldable iPad is facing several issues that could delay it to 2029.
The iPad being developed has an 18-inch OLED foldable screen. The issue is that the Samsung-made screen still has a folding effect. The second issue is that it is too heavy, at around 1.5 kilograms, which is much heavier than the iPad Pro, which only weighs 600 grams.
A similar product has been launched by Huawei with the MateBook Fold Ultimate. The MateBook Fold Ultimate with the same size is still quite heavy, at 1.16 kilograms. The question here is whether there is demand for foldable tablets. The foldable device market is currently not very developed, and Samsung is trying to inject interest with the Galaxy G Fold with a foldable screen.
