Microsoft Tests Closing Ability to Create Accounts on Windows 11 Without Require Internet Connection

For users of the Microsoft Windows 11 operating system, one of the most annoying things is the need to log in to a Microsoft account before they can use the operating system.

Previously, there were a number of ways that users could use to activate Windows 11 user accounts without requiring an internet connection or Microsoft account, such as “bypassnro” which was closed earlier this year. Another method that is still in use today is “start ms-cxh:localonly” via Command Prompt before the operating system setup process.

However, with the latest Windows 11 test build, the way to use the Command Prompt also seems to have been patched, and users will be forced to connect their computers to an internet connection and use their Microsoft account to use their computers.

A Microsoft spokesperson said that this way to create offline accounts has been closed because it allows users to skip the OOBE (initial setup) process which may cause the operating system to not function optimally.

As mentioned, this CMD step closure was introduced in beta testing versions through the Windows Insider program first, so if you're using the official version of Windows 11, you can still create offline accounts this way.
