OpenAI Updates Sora to Stop Generating Videos That Violate Intellectual Property

Last week, the Sora app went viral for its ability to generate videos that look incredibly realistic. Within hours of its launch, it became the most downloaded app on the App Store, while social media was flooded with videos of its creations. The problems began when videos showed Pikachu stealing, SpongeBob taking drugs, and many other characters with generated intellectual property.

After just two days, Sam Altman announced that Sora's model now prevents the generation of characters that have intellectual property. According to him, OpenAI received a lot of feedback from IP holders and therefore the generation of characters that do not belong to the account holder is now prohibited.

Altman also said that OpenAI plans to share revenue with IP holders whose characters are generated by users. The payment will be shared between OpenAI and the IP holder, but the payment structure is still being refined and will be launched in the near future.

Users who violate Sora's terms and conditions after this could be banned from using the platform. Because Sora's account is the same as OpenAI's account, it will cause the user to lose access to Sora and ChatGPT
