Oppo ColorOS 16 was officially launched today in China with its operating system based on Android 16. Like last year, the focus is once again on smoothness when used, reduced battery consumption, and more comprehensive integration of artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Overall, the operating system is 26% more efficient, CPU load is reduced by 14%, applications launch 28% faster, and load times are reduced by 21%.
The new animation system Seamless Animation makes every interaction smoother and more responsive. This is done through the Luminous Rendering Engine that controls visual components and the Trinity Engine that works when using high-load applications such as launchers and multitasking.
The interface also takes inspiration from light and shadows that seem to take inspiration from Apple Liquid Glass. This can be seen in the widgets on the lock screen. The operating system now supports full-screen Always On Display, videos as backgrounds, and Flux Home Screen that changes the size and design of lock screen elements according to the background image.
AI Portrait Glow editing adjusts the lighting in dark photos with the help of AI. Also added are AI Eraser, AI Unblur and AI Reflection Remover. The Master Cut feature allows video editing with text, audio, filters and speed control.
The O+ Connect application further strengthens the integration of the ecosystem across Mac and Windows operating systems. For example, computers can be controlled using ColorOS 16 smartphones. ColorOS 16 will be used on the Oppo Find X9 series first with its launch on October 28. The update for older devices will begin shortly after this, starting with the Find N5 and Find X8 series.
