Malaysian Passport Remains 12th Most Powerful in the World – Singapore Still Top

The Henley & Partners World's Most Powerful Passport Index was published today with the Malaysian passport remaining at 12th place as in 2024. Malaysian passport holders are allowed to travel to 180 countries without needing a visa first.

This is Malaysia's best position since 2014 where the country's passport was at 8th place. The world's most powerful passport still remains in the hands of Singapore which allows travel to 192 destinations without needing a visa. In the Southeast Asia region, Malaysia is in second place while in Asia we are in fourth place behind Singapore, Japan and South Korea.

An interesting development this year is that the United States has fallen to 12th place compared to 7th place last year. This is the first time the United States has been out of the list of the 10 most powerful passports in the world since the chart was released in 2006. Just 11 years ago, the United States passport was the most powerful in the world.
