Proton through its subsidiary PRO-NET today officially announced the opening for bookings for their latest electric car, the Proton e.MAS 5, allowing consumers in Malaysia to place bookings for the electric vehicle which will be sold at a price between RM60,000 and RM80,000.
This introduction simultaneously positions the eMAS 5 as the lowest priced electric car on the market at the moment, compared to various other competitors. Two model variants will be offered, namely the eMAS 5 Prime and the eMAS 5 Premium. Proton targets to start delivering this vehicle to buyers starting as early as November 2025.
The Proton eMAS 5 comes with a compact build, adapted for city driving, as well as for young families. In terms of battery, it uses a 40kW CATL-produced LFP battery that offers a travel range of 325km WLTP, which also comes with battery cooling technology. The 71kW DC charging support allows the car's battery to be charged from 30% to 80% in 21 minutes. It also offers an acceleration rate of 0-50km/h in 3.9 seconds with 150Nm of torque.
The Proton eMAS 5 also includes a 70L front bonnet space, in addition to a 375L space in the rear boot of the car. Completing this car is an 8.8-inch inforia screen measuring 14.6 inches with FHD resolution, and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Proton eMAS 5 includes a USB-A port in the vehicle instead of USB-C like on the Proton X50.
The final price for the Proton eMAS5 has not yet been announced, but it will cost between RM60,000 and RM80,000. Those who make the first 5,000 bookings for this vehicle will receive a TNG NFC card with a credit of RM100, in addition to an additional rebate of RM500 later. Interested users can place orders at a price of RM99 for the first 5,000 orders.
