As previously rumored, Samsung showed off its tri-fold smartphone design to the public during the APEC conference in South Korea this week. The device, believed to be called the Galaxy G Fold, was placed in a closed and open position in a plastic case that visitors cannot touch.
A video broadcast on the plastic case shows the device opened with two “doors” pulled to the left and right, confirming the previously rumored rumors. A secondary screen is placed on the outside. It is still unknown when Samsung will launch its first tri-fold device.
Huawei became the first company to offer a tri-fold device to the market with the Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN. Samsung used a different design from the Mate XT so that the folding screen is not exposed and is more protected from damage. The G Fold may come with a 6.5″ screen on the outside and a 10″ screen on the inside, allowing it to be a larger tablet than the Z Fold7.
