OpenAI has hit a new milestone as its AI-powered video-generation app Sora has reached 1 million downloads in less than five days after its launch. Sora CEO Bill Peebles confirmed that the number is across all platforms, although the app is still in invite-only mode and only available in the US and Canada.
Sora’s recent launch also introduced a feature that allows users to create and share AI videos in a vertical format similar to TikTok. Unlike TikTok, Sora can generate videos entirely using artificial intelligence. Users only need to provide simple instructions in the app to produce a specific video.
Through the Cameo function, users can create videos featuring themselves or other individuals who have given permission to share with the app. The Sora development team is also actively adding new features and fixing redundant issues to support the growth of the app.
