Too Lazy to Take a Bath? Human Washing Machine Now on Sale in Japan

Remember our report three years ago about the human washing machine that will be on display at Expo 2025 Osaka? It was developed by the firm Science to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the prototype human washing machine shown at Expo 1970 Osaka. At the expo site, visitors can try out this human washing machine if they dare. Originally it was just a prototype but Science now says 6 units have been ordered by customers in Japan.

The Mirai Ningen Sentakki, which means Human Washing Machine of the Future, has been on display since June. It washes the human body in just 5 minutes with the user sitting in a reclining position. In the initial stage, the human body will be immersed before a shower system and soapy water spray will clean the dirt on the body.

While sitting in the cleaning pod, the user will be shown a video and soothing music. The pulse will be tracked by Mirai Ningen Sentakki to see the stress level. After the cleaning cycle is complete, the water will be drained from the chamber and the user can get out to dry off.

Science did not name the first six customers, saying only that they were hotel and spa operators. The sale price was also kept secret, but Science revealed that the cost of building the Mirai Ningen Sentakki prototype was 100 million Yen (~RM 2.78 million). If you are the lazy type to take a shower, you can head to the country where Doraemon was born to try out the world's first commercial human washing machine.
