Several cities around the world have started using robo-taxis, which are vehicles that are automatically driven to user destinations based on bookings on the app. With this step, the service can run around the clock, and does not rely on human drivers.
In China, one of the companies leading this arena is Baidu through its Apollo Go service. Most recently, Baidu announced on October 31, 2025, that they have reached the weekly booking figure for robo-taxis reaching 250,000 bookings. This also shows the increase in the use of robo-taxis and the openness of users in using them.
Baidu currently operates in only a few cities in China, and also plans to offer services in other countries.
In addition to Baidu, the company that also offers a similar service is Waymo, a subsidiary of Google – which operates in the United States.
