The Humanoid Robot Games took place in China this year, cementing the country's status as a world robotics superpower. Now, the locally-made AgiBot A2 humanoid robot holds the Guinness World Record for the longest humanoid robot walk, covering a distance of 106,286 km. The record was recorded between November 10-13 from Jinji Lake, Jiangsu province to the Shanghai Bund.
The robot ran continuously with its batteries replaced while it was still in operation. Throughout the world-record-breaking journey, the AgiBot A2 moved on its own. AgiBot said this was possible because the A2 is equipped with a GPUS, LiDAR and camera system that allows it to safely navigate on its own.
The development of humanoid robots is increasing as manufacturers see it as a home assistant or to replace human workers in factories. Its effectiveness in the real world is still unknown as tests are still being conducted.
According to a report by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) last September, there are 4,664,000 industrial robots in the world. Of these, around 2 million or around 43% operate in China.
