The battery capacity of modern smartphones will reach 10,000 mAh starting next year. With large batteries, the issue of devices dying before the end of the day will be a thing of the past. But starting March 1, 2026, the Google Play Store will start displaying warning labels on apps that use a lot of battery power.
Labels like the above will be clearly displayed on the app screen. Apps that are found to be active in the background for more than 2 hours a day within a 24-hour period will receive this label. Beta testing has been underway since the beginning of the year and it will be activated in the near future.
This feature was developed by Google in collaboration with Samsung. One UI 8 device users will receive notifications of apps that are too often active in the background to the point of affecting the battery.
The only exemption is given to media player apps like Spotify and YouTube because the feature is active in the background while the screen is locked for it to work.
