Sony Malaysia recently reduced the selling price of PlayStation 5 by RM480 in conjunction with the 11.11 promotion which will end tomorrow. But in their own country, Sony has started offering PlayStation 5 at a price 25% cheaper than the original price.
In Japan PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is sold at ¥55,000 (~RM 1469) compared to the original price of ¥73,000 (~RM 1950). This is cheaper than the price of the same console in Malaysia which is RM 2069 each or RM 1589 in conjunction with the 11.11 promotion.
This console only supports Japanese Language and it can only run Japanese market games. So if you buy it yourself, the language and country settings cannot be changed. Sony is offering this console in Japan as a way to mitigate the impact of the weakening Yen value and the increase in the price of the console due to tariffs imposed by the United States.
The Japanese version of PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will go on sale on November 21. It is the first console released by Sony to be locked to language and country settings since the PlayStation 2.
