E-commerce crime in Malaysia showed an alarming increase in 2025. Based on data from the Malaysian Commercial Crime Investigation Department, a total of 12,297 cases were recorded from January to October 2025. This is because e-commerce crime, which also refers to the online buying and selling process between sellers and buyers, is now increasingly exposed to various forms of fraud.
This increase recorded a jump of 97% compared to 2024, thus showing the importance of immediate efforts to strengthen security measures in digital transactions. More surprisingly, the value of losses recorded due to e-commerce crime has now reached RM110.3 billion, an increase of 105% compared to the previous year.
This figure not only has a major impact on consumers but also affects confidence in local e-commerce platforms. Therefore, authorities are calling on the public to be more careful when conducting online transactions and to always refer to official channels to verify information.
