The latest Microsoft Windows 11 operating system update, Build 26220.7262, introduces several new features, including Agent Workspace which adds an AI agentic feature that, for example, allows the operating system to automatically make reservations or purchases for users with minimal input.
In short, it allows computers to make various types of decisions for users without requiring instructions from the computer owner. After updating the Windows 11 operating system to the latest version, this function can be accessed through the System > AI Components menu where the Experimental Agentic Features option can be displayed.
Microsoft says that when this agentic function is used, artificial intelligence will use this “agentic workspace” to carry out the instructions that have been given without requiring user supervision.
They gave an example that access to user data such as credit card numbers and verifications and folders (Downloads, Desktop, Videos, Pictures, and Music) is confidential, specific to that computer only, and any details accessed and used cannot be accessed by any third party, even though the AI agentic system has full read and write access to the data on it.
Microsoft confirmed that for now, this AI agentic feature is not operational for regular users at this time, and is deactivated. It can only be used if you sign up for the Windows Insider program.
They also said that additional security issues such as remote access and issues such as prompt injection need to be addressed and refined before this feature is introduced to general users.
