Last month, we reported that details of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor, the first AMD “Gorgon Point” processor, had leaked, and it was expected to be shown as early as CES 2026 in Las Vegas which will take place in early January 2026.
Now, new details about the processor series are now present with the model name “pmf_ryzen_ai400series” via chipset firmware update v7.10.02.711. As shown in the previous article about the Gorgon Point CPU, this processor series is seen as an interim update before AMD launches the ZEN 6 processor series.
This “PMF” chipset firmware is seen as strong evidence that the AMD Ryzen AI 400 processor series is coming soon as it relates to power consumption, performance, CPU profile and more regarding an AMD laptop processor.
However, as we also said before, this Ryzen AI 9 400 series of processor chips is just the beginning before the upcoming introduction of AMD ZEN 6 “Medusa Point” laptop chips, which are expected to offer even greater performance and more efficient power consumption, thanks to TSMC’s N2 semiconductor chip production process by the end of next year.
