The US Department of War (DoW) has officially selected Google Gemini 3 as the artificial intelligence (AI) model that will be used in the GenAI.mil initiative. Through this initiative, AI will be utilized to perform tasks more efficiently and be ready for war in line with the AI Action Plan announced by the White House.
Last July, contracts were awarded to Google, OpenAI, Preplexity and xAI by the DoW to test several models offered for government administration use. All companies received $200 million to demonstrate the capabilities of their respective AI for military needs.
With AI now becoming a global trend, its use in all facets of administration is now accelerating in several countries. In America, it is seen as a way to provide an advantage over enemy countries such as Russia, Iran and China.
Under the 13th Malaysia Plan which will cover the years 2026-2030, the Prime Minister expressed his desire to make Malaysia an artificial intelligence (AI)-based country. In line with the announced National AI Action Plan, the government will also use AI to enhance the capabilities of national security and defence assets as well as personnel capacity.
