In the middle of this year, it was announced that NVIDIA would limit software update support for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 900 and GeForce GTX 1000 series of graphics cards to general security and performance updates only.
Recently, with the introduction of software update 590 for the Linux operating system, people have been saying that NVIDIA has finally stopped supporting the Maxwell and Pascal series of graphics cards.
This seems to be confirmed for the Linux operating system first, as sometimes the software updates offered on the Microsoft Windows operating system are different. But if it is the same, it means that the 581.80 software introduced in November is the last software that supports these two series of graphics cards.
This does not mean that these graphics cards will no longer be fully supported, but security and general performance updates will only be offered quarterly, and will no longer come with updates specifically for modern games.
