OpenAI today introduced an update to their GPT model, the latest version, GPT-5.2. This model has been offered via ChatGPT, in addition to being offered to developers via the API. This new update comes a month after OpenAI introduced GPT-5.1.
As the version number suggests, it is a minor update, offering improvements in document development, code writing, and understanding of longer contexts. In addition, the rate of hallucinations or missharing present in this model is lower than before.
This new update also comes in line with the pressure on OpenAI since Google introduced the Gemini 3 model, which is seen to operate better than OpenAI’s offering. Several reports also said that OpenAI is now in “emergency” mode, making them focus on developing more powerful models.
