We all know that every human fingerprint is unique and can be used as personal identification. With this uniqueness, OpenSys Technologies today announced the pilot project of the PalmWav cashless payment system by scanning the entire palm.
With PalmWav, buyers no longer need to scan a QR code using a phone or take out a physical card from their wallet. The palm is enough to be used as a payment system. PalmWav supports various payment infrastructures in Malaysia including the MyDebit network by PayNet.
Under this pilot program, PalmWav scanners are already being used at Kom.Fi Café, Bread Maison and Dosz Coffee stores in Kuala Lumpur. To use it, users need to download the PalmWav application with palm registration only needing to be done once at stores that support this payment system.
PalmWav is powered by Tencent Cloud technology which identifies the user's palm which is then encrypted for security purposes. The system will then perform verification within a few seconds when the payment is made. The same technology is the backbone of the Pay by Palm system that Tencent introduced in Singapore last year.
