Perodua Launches Electric Car, Perodua QV-E Priced at RM 80,000 – Battery Rented Separately

With 2025 just a month away, today Perodua has officially launched their first electric car, the Perodua QV-E, priced at RM 80,000, excluding battery rental. The separate battery rental is intended to make ownership easier and also provide more ways for Perodua to organize their electric car ownership ecosystem.

With the Sportback design, it looks more masculine, more stylish and comes in two colors, namely blue and gray. The headlight design comes with a full LED strip and projector lights, as well as stylish taillights. The entire vehicle's signal lights are also LED Sequential Lights and it is equipped with an electric rearview mirror display connected to the rear camera located in the spoiler.

The interior design also brings a 10.25-inch instrument display, an inforia display that is also the same size and can be tethered wirelessly to Apple Carplay or Android Auto. There is also a driving mode switch and a choice of regenerative braking levels to make it easier to control this electric car. At the rear, there is a child detection sensor, which will warn if a child or pet is left in the rear passenger compartment.

The Perodua QV-E has a 52 kWh battery that can provide a range of 440km NEDC. The charging slot located on the left side is capable of DC charging as high as 60 kW, allowing a fast charging process of 30-80% in 30 minutes, while the 7 kW AC charging allows a full charge of 0-100% in around 7 hours. With a front-wheel drive electric motor that provides a maximum power of 150 kW and 285Nm of torque, it also has a maximum speed limit of 165km/h.

Regarding battery rental, it is offered separately because Perodua says it wants to make it easier to own the QV-E so that users do not have to worry about the depreciation of this electric car. In fact, a lifetime warranty is also offered provided that the battery is still owned by Perodua. If there is any battery problem, including if the battery health drops below 70%, users can exchange it for free. If the owner wants to sell the Perodua QV-E, it must also go through the platform provided by Perodua to guarantee the resale value. For this battery rental alone, Perodua charges a charge of RM275 per month.

The Perodua QV-E, which was launched at a price of RM80,000 today, is also the beginning of the development of the locally-made electric car ecosystem with 50% use of technology and collaboration with local companies. Perodua also targets the rate of use of local materials and technology to reach 70% by 2027.
