Users Reportedly Now Using Google Gemini for Longer Periods Than ChatGPT

When OpenAI introduced ChatGPT about three years ago, many said it would be a Google competitor, and made various speculations regarding the future of Google. However, for 2025, Google showed their strength, and continued to lead the artificial intelligence arena through Gemini.

For your information, Google is among the earliest companies to focus on the development of machine learning and artificial intelligence. After a slight lag in the artificial intelligence arena, in the form of chatbots for users, for 2025, Google has come up with one interesting product after another for users.

These include image editing support through Nano Banana, and also the recently introduced Gemini 3. This feature is in addition to a number of other features, including NotebookLM support and also voice support through Google Antigravity. Google also uses its own chips for development and supply purposes, thus reducing dependence on third-party chips.

These various offerings are now seen to bear fruit. Gemini is now used by over 650 million monthly active users, and according to a recent report, users are now spending more time on Gemini than on ChatGPT.

This is certainly putting pressure on OpenAI – which relies on investor money to continue developing their models and infrastructure.

With this development, it will be interesting to see what Google and OpenAI do next in this arena, including how Google will take over the leadership position in artificial intelligence in terms of user numbers that OpenAI currently holds.
