Vince Zampella, Developer of Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Titanfall and Apex Legends, Dies

Vince Zampella, a video game developer and executive involved in some of the world's most prominent FPS video game series, died on December 21 in a car accident at the age of 55.

Born in 1970, Zampella began his career with involvement in the Medal of Honor series and was the lead designer for Medal of Honor Allied Assault, which is still considered one of the best FPS ever produced. Zampella later founded Infinity Ward, where he launched the Call of Duty series in 2004, which is still published today.

Due to issues regarding the payment of the CoD series' success bonus of $36 million, Zampella and Jason West were fired by Activision in 2010. Zampella and West later founded the new studio Respawn Entertainment, which produces the Titanfall, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi series.

Before his death, he served as Group Leader at Electronic Arts and was involved in the release of the latest game Battlefield 6, which received critical acclaim and a great response from hardcore fans.
