FIFA signed an agreement to make TikTok the Preferred Platform for the 2026 World Cup. Through this, TikTok influencers were given permission to stream some games live on TikTok. They were also given access to watch training sessions, attend press conferences and use FIFA archives to produce content for followers to watch.
For broadcasters, income can be generated using 2026 World Cup content through TikTok's advertising system. Through this collaboration, FIFA wants to continue the excitement and discussion of World Cup matches after the final whistle has blown.
TikTok will also use an anti-piracy system to ensure that FIFA's intellectual property is not misused. This is the second collaboration between FIFA and TikTok after the 2023 Women's World Cup which managed to garner billions of streams through this vertical video platform.
