Purchases and subscription payments on the Sony PlayStation video game platform can be made via debit, credit card, purchase coupons and also the ShopeePay digital wallet.
For the latter step, TechNave recently reported that starting January 22, 2026, customers will need to complete the eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) step before they are allowed to proceed with payments via the digital wallet.
This was revealed via an email sent to the writer's account at TechNave who may have previously used ShopeePay to purchase games or subscribe to the PlayStation Plus service.
Through the email, verification must be completed by January 22, or any attempted payment using ShopeePay will not be successful. This includes previously set automatic subscription payments, especially for PlayStation Plus subscriptions. The process will need to be completed, otherwise the payment will not be approved.
If you are using the ShopeePay digital wallet to pay for video game purchases or subscriptions on the PlayStation Store platform, our recommendation is to complete it as soon as possible.
