It seems that Tenor will be another platform under Google that will be buried. After being acquired in 2018, Google has now stated that they will end the API integration offering for Tenor on June 30, 2026. With this move, all existing applications that integrate GIFs through Tenor will stop working after that date.
For reasons that are not specified, Google says this is part of their move to focus on resources, in addition to improving their core products.
A number of major platforms integrate GIF support through the Tenor API, and one of them is WhatsApp. There are several alternative platforms that offer more or less similar support, including GIPHY and Klipy.
