Following the Minister of Communications' sharing earlier this morning, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has now issued an official statement regarding the recent X platform problems. MCMC stated that they are now taking legal action against X and xAI.
This action was taken due to the failure of both companies to ensure user safety involving the use of Grok. As many are aware, the X platform allows users to generate and manipulate images of women and children using artificial intelligence support, including in the form of harmful, obscene, indecent, extremely offensive content and also manipulating images without consent.
MCMC stated that legal proceedings will be initiated in the near future.
MCMC said that they remain committed to continuing to uphold Malaysian laws and protect the interests of Malaysians. As always, all digital platforms must comply with local laws and regulations.
