Is OnePlus going to be buried by Oppo? This is the claim of the Android Headlines site after seeing how OnePlus is being absorbed back into Oppo, workforce reductions, sales are declining and several products are allegedly being canceled.
Among the signs that OnePlus may be buried is the massive store closures in India, which is OnePlus' second largest market after China. Meanwhile, in Europe and the United States, the number of employees has also been reduced sharply in recent years.
Android Headlines said that one of the reasons why OnePlus will be buried is because of declining sales. Device production will decrease by 20% throughout 2024, with this being seen most significantly in India and China, which account for 74% of device sales.
Meanwhile, in the United States, OnePlus devices are no longer offered in bundles by major telecommunications companies as they were in the early stages. In addition, the report also claims that the OnePlus Open 2 and OnePlus 15s have been canceled. Although OnePlus may be buried, existing customers are expected to be supported as promised.
OnePlus and Oppo have not yet issued statements denying this report. Realme has recently been absorbed back into Oppo and may receive more attention. In Malaysia, it can be seen that promotions for OnePlus have decreased sharply without the big launch events like the Carl Pei era.
If this report is true, OnePlus will become another smartphone brand that was once great but was later forgotten because its products were not well received by consumers.
