OpenAI to Stop Operation of GPT-4o and Its Affiliates

The AI chatbot service ChatGPT currently uses the GPT 5.1 and 5.2 models, but what is interesting is that until now, the GPT 4o model was also still in use when the GPT 5.0 model was introduced because many basic and paid customers have reportedly complained that GPT 5.0 does not have the natural language capabilities of the previous model.

The issue in question seems to have been fixed by OpenAI, where they have now announced that they will stop using the GPT-4o LLM and its affiliates, which include GPT‑4.1, GPT‑4.1 mini, and OpenAI o4-mini.

The operation of all these language models will be removed from the ChatGPT chatbot service on February 13, 2026. According to OpenAI, this is also because many ChatGPT users have now switched to using the GPT 5.2 LLM and only 0.1 percent of users are still using GPT 4o.

In the meantime, OpenAI also said that various improvements are being made to their latest public speaking models, and that ChatGPT will soon offer a variety of usage methods and patterns for all its users.
