All foldable screen devices from the first generation until now have a noticeable fold line. Although it is admitted that the fold effect is becoming less noticeable, it can still be seen from certain angles. At CES 2026, Samsung Display showed a prototype of the Mont Flex OLED screen panel that no longer has a fold line.
Mont Flex was announced in August last year but there were no pictures showing a panel without lines. Based on the picture above, this is the panel that may be used in the Z Fold8 and other Fold-type devices. Previously, Samsung Display was chosen as the manufacturer of the iPhone Fold panel because only they can produce a screen without noticeable lines.
The difference between Mont Flex and other Fold panels is that there is a metal plate near the folding mechanism that ultimately eliminates the fold effect.
