Samsung Tests Early Dementia Detection Feature

Samsung announced that they will test a cognitive decline detection feature for individuals through various Galaxy devices and IoT-connected devices. On the CES 2026 stage, Praveen Raja, Vice President and Head of Digital Health at Samsung Research America (SRA) said that data collected by various devices can be used as a yardstick for the emergence of diseases such as dementia.

Among the things that can be detected are spelling errors that occur more often than usual, changes in daily habits such as drinking water, opening and closing windows more often than usual, walking less, waking up later, and more.

All of this data from various devices under the Galaxy and SmartThings ecosystems can be used as an early warning to get an early opinion from a personal doctor about the decline in cognitive abilities of family members, especially among the elderly.

He said that this feature will be provided in beta testing in select markets at this time. When it can be tried and what the earliest markets to receive it have not yet been revealed. It is likely that more information about this dementia detection will be announced during the launch of the Galaxy S26 series later.
