Samsung to Launch Smart Glasses and Thin Devices This Year

Samsung announced its financial results yesterday and at the same time shared its plans for 2026 with investors. What caught our attention was Samsung executive vice president MX revealing that their first AR glasses will be launched this year. This is the first time that a launch has been confirmed by Samsung itself after hiding its existence since the middle of last year.

Two smart glasses are believed to be in development, each using the Android XR operating system. Several demos shown at Google I/O last year showed the ability of Android XR to understand what is being seen and listen to voice commands given by users. Samsung's first smart glasses will reportedly come in two versions, one with a built-in screen and the other without a screen to give competition to Meta.

Also confirmed again is that Samsung devices this year will feature AI agents. Previously, what is meant by an AI agent was quite vague but after Google announced Personal Intelligence, it can be predicted that this will be an AI agent that will be supported on the Galaxy S26 series first before being offered to other devices in Samsung's portfolio.

This year will also see Samsung offering more thin and light devices according to the presentation slides we saw. This could be an early sign that the Galaxy Edge series will not be canceled but will be launched at a different date.
