The mega Neom project aims to make Saudi Arabia the focus of world tourism with the tallest building, longest building, deepest building, tallest stadium and more. But Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030 will be reduced in scope compared to the original due to cost issues and the original plan that is not based on real sand, according to a Financial Times report.
Among the things that will be done is to reduce the size of The Line, which is being developed as the world's largest building along 170 kilometers. The Hidden Marina section that is currently being developed will continue while other sections will be designed and reworked. Meanwhile, the Trojena ski center project will no longer be the location of the 2029 Asian Winter Games event and the Oxagon sustainable data center project will also be affected.
Last year, there were reports that The Line was problematic because it would use a large amount of concrete, steel and building materials, which would cause construction costs to increase manifold. The Hidden Marina section needs to be completed because it will house the world's tallest stadium for the 2034 World Cup.
