Last year, Wikimedia Enterprise was launched as a way to license Wikimedia content data to companies that wanted to use it for artificial intelligence training purposes. Yesterday, in celebration of Wikipedia’s 25th anniversary, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral AI, and Perplexity were announced as the latest Wikimedia Enterprise customers.
They join Google, Ecosia, Nomic, Pleias, ProRata, and Reef Media who have already used Wikimedia Enterprise. Through licensing, all of these organizations are using Wikimedia Enterprise to integrate human-generated knowledge into their platforms at scale.
In addition to licensing Wikipedia content to customers, customers can access an API that provides the latest versions of the articles they need and also download the data they need immediately.
