Microsoft has issued an emergency update after the January 2026 security patch update caused some Windows 11 PCs to not be able to shut down or enter hibernation mode. When trying to shut down, they will simply perform an unsolicited reboot.
This feature has only been reported on PCs that use the Secure Launch feature. In addition to resolving the above issues, the update also resolves a screen that does not display graphics, Outlook Classic stops unexpectedly, and fixes an issue where users cannot log in remotely on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
If you are affected, please update your Windows operating system immediately today.
