It is not certain whether this change will have a major impact on users or not. However, for your information, YouTube has updated the search options function on its platform following feedback from users.
In the latest update, YouTube has introduced a new search option, namely ‘Shorts’ under the ‘Type’ category. This option allows users to specify whether they want to watch short or long videos in search results. At the same time, several search functions have also received name changes where ‘Sort By’ is now known as ‘Prioritize’ while ‘View count’ has been changed to ‘Popularity’.
In addition, two old search functions, namely ‘Last hour’ and ‘Rating’, have been removed because they were found to not work properly and caused complaints among users. The menu layout has also been revamped with the ‘Upload Date’ section now placed in the middle to facilitate navigation and improve display clarity.
According to YouTube, this step was taken so that users can use this option better and help improve the video search experience on the platform.
