ByteDance is currently reported to be developing its own artificial intelligence chip, thus reducing its dependence on outside parties – especially the West. For the purpose of producing the chip, ByteDance is said to be in discussions with Samsung.
This chip is seen to focus on inference tasks, namely in processing various user queries and questions.
Various technology companies are seen to be developing their own chips, and reducing their dependence especially on NVIDIA. In China itself, Alibaba and Baidu are also ready to focus on chip development and have shown their chips. ByteDance, with its focus on chatbot offerings and video generation, certainly wants to have more control over processing and save operating costs by using its own chips.
If all goes well, ByteDance is expected to present their AI chip this year.
