Proton started 2026 by announcing that more than 3000 Proton e.MAS 5s were delivered to buyers last January. Continuing this performance, Proton has announced the next variation in the e.MAS family, the e.MAS 7 PHEV, which is a hybrid-powered SUV with a combination of a petrol engine and an electric motor.
The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV is an SUV in the C segment, and has the same size as the e.MAS 7. However, it is distinguished by the design of the headlights that continue to cover the front bonnet. The rear design can be said to be the same as the existing Proton e.MAS 7.
The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV is offered in three variants, namely Prime, Premium and Premium Plus. All three are distinguished by their specifications and finishes. The Prime and Premium variants share a battery size of 18.4 kWh which provides an electric travel range of 105 KM NEDC with 30kW DC charging while the Premium Plus variant has a larger battery of 29.8 kWh which provides an electric travel range of 170KM NEDC with 60 kW DC charging and is also equipped with a translucent roof.
In terms of petrol engines, it uses the same engine for all variants, namely a 1.5L engine that produces 73 kW and 125 Nm of torque. This combination allows the e.MAS 7 PHEV to achieve a travel range of up to 1065km NEDC.
