Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Google Gemini now has over 750 million monthly active users (MAU). This was revealed in Alphabet’s latest financial report yesterday, up from 650 million (MAU) announced last quarter.
The increase in user numbers was driven by the introduction of the latest Gemini 3 model, which has higher performance than its competitors, and the ability of the Nano Banana model to generate more realistic-looking images. Despite having 750 million MAU, Gemini is still behind ChatGPT, which had around 800 million MAU by the end of December 2025.
However, the rate of increase in Gemini’s user numbers is faster than ChatGPT. The introduction of Gemini 3 led OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to declare a code red at the company to ensure their products would stay ahead. ChatGPT and Sora were improved to the point that development of the advertising system and AI agent was temporarily suspended.
