Astro has now informed its customers that, effective March 1, 2026, a number of HBO channels will no longer be offered through Astro subscriptions. These include HBO HD, Cinemax HD, HBO Family and HBO Hits channels.
This move is seen as an effort to focus users on the HBO Max application. Astro customers can subscribe to the HBO Max streaming application through their Astro bill, starting at RM24.90 per month – thus allowing customers to continue enjoying HBO content.
Astro said that in place of the channels, they will be adding 4 new channels, namely Astro Showtime, Rock X Stream, Rock Action and Astro FAM Time. The three channels will be offered starting March 1, 2026 for customers who subscribe to the Movies & Astro One Epic pack, while the Astro FAM Time channel will start on April 1, 2026.
