No New NVIDIA Graphics Cards This Year Due to RAM Shortage

Bad news for gamers this morning as NVIDIA will not be launching any new gaming graphics cards this year according to a report by The Information. The much-anticipated RTX 6000 series graphics cards have been delayed, making it the first time in 30 years that NVIDIA has not launched a new graphics card year after year.

As usual lately, you can blame artificial intelligence (AI) for why NVIDIA, which dominates 90% of the graphics card market, has not offered a new model. The focus is now on AI data center GPUs and as such the gaming graphics card segment is now being treated like a stepchild. The RTX 6000 series which uses chips with the Rubin architecture is not expected to launch until late 2027.

The bad news doesn't end there as when the rainstorms come, it brings downed trees, flooded roads and flying roofs. The Information also says that the launch of the RTX 5000 Super graphics cards has also been delayed while the production of the RTX 5000 series graphics cards will be reduced due to a shortage of RAM chips.

The RAM apocalypse has already resulted in smartphones, tablets and computers selling for more this year. Now gamers are suffering as the launch of the PlayStation 6 and new Xbox have also been delayed while the Steam Machine's selling price cannot be announced because Valve cannot guarantee the price.
