High demand to build artificial intelligence (AI) data centers has caused prices of phones, tablets, laptops, graphics cards, consoles and TVs to rise sharply. The launch of Steam Machine has been delayed while the PlayStation 6 and the next Xbox may be postponed beyond 2028 due to SSD and RAM shortages. Phison CEO Pua Khein-Seng recently said that many electronics companies will go bankrupt this year due to the RAM shortage crisis.
He said that many vendors will go bankrupt or exit the electronics market due to difficulty in obtaining memory supplies. He added that smartphone production is expected to decrease by between 200-250 million this year and it will also threaten PC and TV production.
So far, Micron has discontinued consumer products under the Corsair brand while ASUS will not release new smartphones this year. This year we may see several more brands go bankrupt and reduce the introduction of new products until memory supplies recover.
