Sony WF-1000XM6 Launched – Improved ANC and Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life

Sony has launched its latest wireless earphones, the WF-1000XM6, as a successor to the XM5. This model comes with several major improvements that make it better than the previous generation.

The earphones use an Integrated Processor V2 with 32-bit audio processing, which is advertised as being able to produce clearer sound. In addition, it is also equipped with 8.4mm drivers specially tuned by Sony acoustic engineers with the Sony Music recording studio. Also included is support for AAC, SBC, LC3, LDAC codecs, as well as DSEE Extreme technology that uses AI to upgrade compressed audio files.

The big upgrade on the Sony WF-1000XM6 lies in the QN3e noise-cancelling chip taken from the WH-1000XM6. This chip is capable of providing noise cancellation that is up to 25% more effective than the XM5, especially in the mid to high frequencies.

The ANC system is also supported by four microphones on each earbud, which adjust the noise cancellation level in real time according to the surrounding conditions. In addition, Ambient mode is said to be more natural, while the internal antenna is now 1.5 times larger to ensure a more stable connection.

Sony also provides a 10-band EQ in the Sound Connect application, in addition to multipoint pairing support, Bluetooth 5.3 (LE), Auracast, Fast Pair, Swift Pair, and 360 Reality Audio with head tracking. In terms of battery, these earphones can last up to 8 hours of use.

A check on the official Sony Malaysia website shows that the selling price of the WF-1000XM6 is listed at RM1,599 but there is a limited promotion at RM1,249. However, when the purchase button is pressed, the promotional price is not available. Therefore, it is better to wait for an official update from Sony before making a purchase to avoid price confusion.
