Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh's next film is Sandiwara and the trailer for this experimental film has been released today. This film is unique not only because the five main characters of Sandiwara are played by Michelle Yeoh, but because it was filmed in Penang using only iPhones.
This 10-minute experimental film will be released on February 20 and is directed by Sean Baker, who is also the director of the film Anora, which received the Oscar for best director and best film in 2025. Sandiwara is Baker's first film shot using an iPhone. The film Tangerine (2015) was shot by him using three iPhone 5s.
In addition, the films Unsane, F1, High Flying Bird and 28 Years Later also have scenes shot using iPhones. In F1, Apple modified the iPhone 15 Pro camera combined with an Apple chip to record video from the point of view of an F1 racing car.
